The driest of all the biomes.

Animal life

There aren’t a very wide variety of animals living within a desert. The usual species are reptiles, birds, insects, and arachnids. These are nocturnal carnivores. Nocturnal means that the animals sleep during the night and are awake at night. Carnivore means that they only eat meat. The most common animals in the desert biome are the kangaroo rat and burrowers. The animals come out at night when the temperature has cooled down greatly. The animals live in hideaways, usually underground. (UCMP)
